The spring of China's reform and opening up is also the spring of the dance

-----The New Year's Ball of the Great Hall of the People

In 1979, the first year of reform and opening up. On New Year's Eve this year, the ballroom dance that had

disappeared for many years appeared for the first time at the party in the Great Hall of the People. At the ball,

a pair of young men and women gracefully painted the circle of waltz, and the distance between the woman

and the male partner remained at 20 cents. The feeling of happiness in their faces was captured by photographer

Li Xiaobin at the right time. The woman's name is Gai Lili, a famous actor, and later renamed Geck, she is also

famous. After the graceful dance of the young actor Gabriel, it was constantly mentioned by people. At the

national-level large-scale dance, people smelled the beginning of the dance. At that time, many people attended

the ball, organized by the State Council, and some young leaders and some literary groups. Prior to this, the

ballroom dance was not allowed. During the Cultural Revolution, it was called the capital repair. The ballroom

was a signal, but it was enough. What surprised photographer Li Xiaobin was that people danced very well, as if

they had practiced. But everyone is still not used to it. In the dance partners, the same-sex combination is

obviously more than the opposite sex combination.

In the 1980s, China’s “dance ban” was first opened, and ballroom dancing re-emerged. At first, the Ching Ming Festival in 1980, a group of literary youth began to meet in the Yuanmingyuan. They include the young artists of the April Film Festival and the Stars Exhibition, the poet North Island, Munk and later the fifth generation director He Qun. These people go there to play, chat and dance. Later, more and more people attracted, and younger people with more open minds went there to gather. The open-air dance party was already in its form. Young people just wanted a fixed exchange of ideas. At the open-air ball, the crowds onlookers are obviously more than those who try. Onlookers include workers dressed in khaki uniforms and curious "foreigners" with cameras. The middle of the dance floor is obviously much more fashionable. There are already men wearing floral shirts and white t-shirts, which basically belong to the most eye-catching dress at that time. Even after more than 20 years, many people can still recognize it at a glance. The one who wears a white t-shirt and bows and dances is a lot of poets. Although he was famous for his poetry at the time, what he remembers today is his dress. The music accompaniment of the entire dance comes from a single-card recorder. It is called the brick by the young people. The brand is Sanyo. The price ranges from 260 yuan to 270 yuan, which is equivalent to the salary of an ordinary cadre at that time for half a year.

Fall cold

The folk dance sneaked for more than a year, and in June 1980, the wind was steep. According to the

investigation, all the major cities in the country have appeared in public places such as parks, plazas, restaurants,

streets and other places to spontaneously gather and dance in a ballroom. When the group is numerous, it has

reached 10,000 people, which has brought many problems to the public security. The "Notice" regards the dance

of cross-border dance as an entertainment project of "low-level vulgarity and rudeness of the dance". The

people's people reacted strongly and resolutely demanded ban. The organizers of the business dance party will

be punished according to the "Regulations on Public Security Administration Punishment", and the criminal

responsibility will be pursued in the "criminal of social management order". For a time, the ballroom dance was

in a bad situation. The ideological world is warm and cold, and the mass base for physical liberation is not solid.

In the newspapers at that time, there was a discussion about collective crusade of ballroom dancing. The park

manager stood up and said that many young people danced in the park and refused to go at night. They violated

the system. They destroyed public property, cultural relics, and green flower beds. They were swearing and rude,

and finally developed into insults and beaten park staff...

On October 19, 1984, the "Notice on
