Don’t look for President Trump to live-tweet his thoughts about Sunday night’s Oscars ceremony.

White House press secretary Sean Spicer, asked Wednesday whether the president would be looking for a “Meryl Streep moment” — referring to the anti-Trump speech that the actress made at the Golden Globe awards last month — told the press corps that POTUS probably will be otherwise occupied.

“The president will be hosting the Governors Ball that night,” Spicer said. “The first lady has put a lot of time into this event, welcoming our nation’s governors to the capital. I have a feeling that’s where the president and first lady are going to be focused on Sunday night.”

Streep’s remarks at the Globes prompted Trump to tweet that the actress, who has been nominated 20 times for an Oscar, was “overrated.” But Spicer seemed to think (hope?) that his boss wouldn’t have the bandwidth to keep up with all the political speeches expected at this year’s premier movie awards — much less weigh in on them.
